About St David’s
St David’s is a welcoming nursing home located in Ealing, renowned for its quality care. The facility offers 75 bedrooms and a range of services, including:
- Physiotherapy
- Occupational therapy
- Rehabilitation
- Respite and day care for individuals over the age of 18
About the Receptionist Position
As a Receptionist, you will be our clients' first point of contact, greeting visitors and providing guidance during their visit. From notifying staff of guests to directing them to specific areas, the Receptionist will ensure visitors are assisted and their needs are met.
Additionally, you will support the care home with key administrative and clerical duties, including:
- Answering phone calls
- Distributing mail
- Scheduling meetings
- Assisting across the business operations
Key Responsibilities
Your core duties will include:
Frontline Customer Service
- Act as the first point of contact for the Home by:
- Answering and operating the switchboard (receiving, transferring calls and recording messages)
- Dealing with customer and public enquiries effectively
- Monitoring visitor access while maintaining security awareness
- Greeting visitors, responding to their needs, and escorting them appropriately

Administrative Support
- Provide general clerical and administrative assistance
- Receive and distribute deliveries in a timely manner
- Type written documents (letters, minutes, charts, notices, etc.)
- Maintain the reception area and notice boards
- Book transport if required
- Organise and arrange meeting facilities, including catering for gatherings
Human Resources & Record-Keeping
- Conduct pre-employment checks (references, DBS checks, etc.)
- Support the onboarding process for new staff
- Ensure up-to-date employee records with timely updates on employment details or status
- Arrange meetings, manage confidential documents, and track deadlines
Additional Duties
- Undertake ad-hoc administrative tasks as requested by various departments

Requirements
To excel in this role, you should have:
- At least one year’s experience in a switchboard or receptionist position
- A calm, helpful and courteous attitude with strong people skills towards:
- Callers, visitors, residents
- Co-workers
- Good time management and prioritisation abilities
- Exceptional communication skills, including:
- A pleasant telephone manner
- Ability to engage effectively at all levels (professional, residents, families)
- An organised approach, with strong attention to detail
- Proficient IT skills, including:
- Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
