Brighton and Hove Street Outreach Service

The Brighton and Hove Street Outreach Service is recruiting one full-time Reconnections Outreach Worker to join the Reconnections Team of the Service. You will be required to work some unsocial hours.

The role

The post holder will form part of a busy outreach team that supports the reconnection of service users to their area of origin. Good communication skills, team-working, and an understanding of the issues faced by people experiencing homelessness or vulnerable individuals is essential. Having good knowledge of the city and good partnership links is desirable.

  • Location: Brighton
  • Hours: Full Time, 37.5 per week
  • Contract: Permanent

  • To engage with a range of individuals in Brighton and Hove who are rough sleeping or insecurely housed with a view to supporting them to return to their area of origin either in the UK or abroad
  • Providing assessment and coordinating resettlement plans by liaising with relevant agencies and services
  • Engaging with foreign nationals who are rough sleeping, including within encampments
  • Working with people who may have been trafficked or victims of Modern-Day Slavery
  • Working with people who have no recourse to public funds
  • Developing links with services in other areas in the UK to assist with diversion or reconnection
  • Communication with Home Office if necessary

About You

  • Understanding of the needs of people who are rough sleeping or insecurely housed
  • In-depth knowledge of at least one of the following: substance misuse, alcohol misuse, mental health, housing law, supporting clients with NRPF
  • Good understanding of safeguarding issues that may present with foreign nationals
  • Knowledge of service pathways to support those who are victims of Modern-Day Slavery / Trafficked
  • An understanding of Immigration law
