LGBTQ+ & Chemsex Recovery Coordinator
Brighton & Hove
Help create a community where everyone feels seen, heard, and supported.
About the Role
At Change Grow Live (CGL) Brighton & Hove, we tackle the barriers that prevent LGBTQ+ individuals and those involved in chemsex from accessing vital support. Many face stigma, discrimination, or fear of judgment, leaving them underserved by traditional treatment pathways. This critical role focuses on harma reduction, targeted outreach, and sustainable recovery within one of the UK’s most vibrant LGBTQ+ communities.
You’ll operate at the intersection of community advocacy, specialist casework, and harm reduction, building trusted relationships in places where people thrive—and where they may also turn to substances for comfort or release.
This isn’t just a Recovery Coordinator position. It’s an opportunity to shape specialist services designed around the people who use them, championing inclusivity and driving change.
Key Responsibilities
You will:
- Lead harm reduction for individuals involved in chemsex, focusing on safer substance use, sexual health, and risk management.
- Proactively engage with LGBTQ+ communities in both clinical and non-traditional settings, building trust through actionable support (e.g., during late-night sessions or weekend outreach).
- Advise and support clients on accessing treatment pathways, addressing the complex interplay of substance abuse, mental health, and social needs.
- Collaborate with sexual health services, community orgs, and partners to create a coordinated, culturally responsive approach.
- Identify trends in chemsex behaviour (e.g., emerging drugs, fissures in support networks) and contribute to service development.
- Liasise across CGL’s Recovery Coordinator team to ensure long-term, flexible support remains available (including evening and weekend hours).

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
