Recreation Assistant - Dryside

Salary: £13.45 per hour

Hours: 6, 15, and 8-hour shifts per week

Contract: Permanent

Location: John Charles, Leeds City Council

About the Role

We are looking for enthusiastic, passionate individuals who love everything about health and fitness. We are recruiting a Recreation Assistant - DRYSIDE who is committed to delivering high levels of customer service and can:

  • Motivate and provide an effective, efficient lifeguard service
  • Comply with professional codes of conduct, corporate policies, and procedures
  • Assist in the provision of sports and leisure activities
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and health and safety

Job Description

Job Purpose

To carry out a range of duties aimed at providing sport and leisure activities whilst ensuring customer satisfaction, health and safety, and delivering a quality service.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the facility’s performance by ensuring a customer-focused service.

  • Administer basic first aid as necessary and required, reporting accidents, injuries, and incidents as per procedures.

  • Carry out all duties in compliance with:

    • Current codes of practice
    • Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
    • COSHH regulations
    • Standard Operating Procedures
    • Emergency Action Plans
  • Perform general cleaning duties in accordance with the centre’s cleaning schedules and quality standards, utilising manual/mechanical equipment while adhering to safe working practices.

  • Erect, dismantle, safely store equipment in line with operational programs in a methodical manner.

  • Supervise a range of children’s activities and parties, ensuring compliance with current child protection policies and procedures.

  • Promote and uphold Equal Opportunities Principles and Health & Safety standards.

  • Undertake any additional duties, as directed by your supervisor, which align with your grade and responsibilities.


Prospects:

Promotion: While there is no automatic progression to senior posts, advancement opportunities depend on normal staff movements and individual capabilities.

  • Life Support Level 1 qualification (required to be attained or in progress)

Desirable Requirements:

  • Knowledge:

    • National Pool Lifeguard Qualification
  • Experience:

    • Leisure centre employment.
    • Experience supervising young people in sports and leisure activities.
    • Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and the COSHH information.
