We're looking for a talented Recruitment Advisor to join our friendly and supportive Recruitment Team based at the Council House in Derby City Centre on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
Our Recruitment Team plays a vital role in helping Derby City Council attract and appoint great people across the full range of services we offer. We provide end-to-end recruitment support to managers across the organisation, ensuring every stage of the recruitment journey delivers an excellent experience for both hiring managers and candidates.
As a Recruitment Advisor, you'll be joining an experienced team that will support your development and help you build expertise across all aspects of recruitment. You'll work with a wide variety of services, meaning no two days are the same; it could be senior appointments to our leadership teams, specialist roles in regulated services or high-volume campaigns in front-line teams.

The Role
As Recruitment Advisor, here are some of key tasks you’ll be doing to make an impact:
- Partnering with Recruiting Managers throughout the full recruitment cycle, from advising on sourcing options through to pre-employment checks
- Providing advice and guidance to managers on advertising campaigns and posting job adverts across a range of channels
- Conducting pre-employment checks including manual Right to Work checks, obtaining references, countersigning DBS applications and conducting statutory checks on both new starters and existing employees
- Producing and issuing employment letters and contracts
- Using the Council’s systems to raise invoices for sold services
- Upholding the highest confidentiality standards, through the recording and maintenance of sensitive candidate information and data
- Managing the team’s busy mailbox to handle internal and external queries and providing excellent customer service over the telephone
- Liaising with external partners such as schools and businesses purchasing services from the Council
About You
We're looking for someone who is organised, approachable and passionate about delivering excellent customer service. You'll enjoy building positive relationships, be confident managing a varied workload and take pride in providing a high-quality service.
To be successful in this role, you'll ideally have:
- Experience of working in a dedicated recruitment role
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills enabling you to build effective working relationships
- Strong time management skills with the ability to manage and prioritise a busy workload
- Good IT skills, including experience of using Microsoft 365 applications
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands and work accurately under pressure
- A proactive approach, with a willingness to learn and develop within a busy recruitment environment
