The Opportunity – Recruitment Consultant (Healthcare Communications)
Carrot’s Healthcare Communications desk covers four closely related disciplines:
- Medical Communications
- Medical Education
- Healthcare Advertising
- Healthcare PR
We collaborate with specialist agencies and consultancies whose clients are pharmaceutical companies. With vacancies growing, the team is seeking a Recruitment Consultant to focus on junior-to-mid-level candidate pipelines, allowing senior colleagues to concentrate on senior roles, business development, and new geographies.
This is a candidate-led role on a warm desk with established client relationships. Ideal for someone who enjoys:

- There is potential to expand the desk through new business development as you grow.

Your Responsibilities
As our Recruitment Consultant, you will:
- Work with clients to take job briefs, ask probing questions, and clarify hiring needs.
- Manage the candidate side of recruitment for junior and mid-level roles across:
- Medical Communications
- Medical Education
- Healthcare Advertising & PR
- Source, register, and nurture candidate relationships, maintaining an updated and organised database.
- Format and refine CVs for submission to clients while ensuring accuracy and clarity.
- Proactively match candidates to roles, highlighting opportunities that may fit their skills.
- Collaborate with Senior Consultants to support their specialisms.
- Develop market knowledge—understanding trends, key clients, and the wider Healthcare Communications sector.
- Take ownership of business development as your experience grows, expanding the desk.
Time Allocation
Work schedules will be:
- Tuesdays and Thursdays in Manchester/Cheadle office
- Monday, Wednesday, Friday – hybrid home-based (flexible arrangement supported).
Requirements
We’re looking for a candidate with:
- Some recruitment experience (up to about one year) – preferable.
- A background in customer service or account management.
- Confidence in:
- Telephone engagement
- Organisation and prioritisation
- Relationship-building
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including:
- Ongoing development of CV profile writing and refinement.
- Ability to work independently from home while staying connected to the team.
- Strong organisational and spreadsheet skills, with the capacity to manage a busy candidate pipeline in a dynamic sector.
- A relationship-driven, candidate-focused approach.
- Genuine interest in:
- Pharma
- Biotech
- MedTech
- The wider Life Sciences sector.
- Ability to commute from the Northwest (Cheadle and Manchester).
