Recruitment Consultant – Protea Recruitment
Edinburgh • Hybrid Working • Flexible Approach
Protea Recruitment isn’t your typical recruitment agency — and we’re proud of that. No KPI obsession. No micromanagement. No “how many calls did you make today?” nonsense. We hire adults, trust them, and give them the freedom to actually enjoy their job.
We’re growing and looking for a Recruitment Consultant who can support the team and confidently hunt for new business. If you love building relationships but also get a buzz from picking up the phone and winning clients, you’ll fit right in.
What you’ll do
- Manage your own desk with genuine autonomy
- Support the wider team with your experience, ideas, and energy
- Pick up the phone confidently — winning new business is essential
- Build real relationships with clients and candidates across the UK (and further afield)
- Bring your own style to the role — bonus points if you’ve worked with manufacturing clients, but it’s not essential

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
