Recruitment Manager (Corporation of King’s)
Salary: £45,000 - £52,000 (based on 40 hours per week, all year round) + excellent benefits (contributory pension, health benefits, free gym, term-time lunch).
About the Role
The Recruitment Manager will lead and manage the end-to-end recruitment and onboarding process for all staff appointments across the Corporation of King’s, including King’s College School, King’s College Junior School, and Wimbledon Common Prep School. You will ensure processes are warm, compliant, and align with safer recruitment standards, while delivering a positive candidate experience and promoting the Corporation’s values of care, inclusion, and respect.
Reporting to: Director of People
Responsibilities
General Recruitment
- Act as an ambassador for the Corporation, ensuring applicants reflect the school’s values and warmth.
- Oversee external and internal recruitment, from vacancy identification to start date, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
- Manage recruitment timelines, focusing on agreed timescales and early communication of delays.
- Prioritise multiple concurrent campaigns without compromising quality or safeguarding.
- Maintain and update SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for consistent recruitment practices.
- Update an appointment/database system to track candidates, adverts, and employment decisions.
- Coordinate recruitment advertising, ensuring accurate, engaging, and values-aligned content across channels.
- Manage candidate communications, interview logistics, and interview day coordination.
- Provide expert guidance to interview panels on fair, structured recruitment processes.
- Ensure transparent internal recruitment and compliance with safeguarding/data integrity.

Safer Recruitment
- Champion safer recruitment, ensuring compliance with KCSIE (Keeping Children Safe in Education).
- Secure, verify, and document references, online checks, DBS checks, and former employer checks.
- Oversee pre-employment checks, escalating concerns to senior leadership.
- Maintain and audit Single Central Records (SCR) for King’s College and WCPS, ensuring statutory compliance.
Onboarding & Induction
- Lead improvements in new staff welcome processes.
- Coordinate IT accounts, access permissions, and staff badges in collaboration with IT.
- Plan and deliver a comprehensive induction programme for professional services staff.
- Gather feedback and drive data-driven improvements to induction content.
KPI Monitoring & Reporting
- Define and track recruitment KPIs (time-to-hire, offer acceptance, onboarding times).
- Produce regular reports for leadership, highlighting trends and improvement areas.
- Use data to enhance recruitment efficiency.
Additional Duties
- Contribute to HR projects/in 福我特es.
- Stay updated on employment law, safeguarding, and HR best practice.
- Uphold the Corporation’s values in recruitment activity.
- Support policy development where required.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- HR qualification (e.g., CIPD) or equivalent experience.
- Safer recruitment training and experience in DBS, references, and background checks.
- Experience managing a Single Central Record (SCR) in a school environment.
- Proven experience in recruitment, onboarding, and induction processes.
- Strong knowledge of GDPR and recruitment record-keeping.
- Ability to manage multiple high-pressure campaigns simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience with HRIS/Applicant Tracking Systems.
- Employment law knowledge and ability to design KPI reports.
- Attention to detail, commitment to accuracy and compliance.
- Customer-focused with a collaborative team player mindset.
