JOB SUMMARY

The postholder will provide advice to managers and staff within the BEARS on request in accordance with the BEARS’s policies and procedures and relevant legislation signposting any issues or concerns to the Recruitment Team Leader.

The postholder will manage their own workload, working within agreed deadlines.

The postholder will assist in developing and communicating employment opportunities to ensure the diversity of the workforce reflects that of the community.

KEY RESULT AREAS:

  • To ensure a professional and proactive recruitment and selection service is provided including appropriate advice and placement of vacancies on the relevant platforms.

  • To advise and assist managers in the effective recruitment and selection of all groups of staff, ensuring that correct procedures are adhered to and that appropriate direction and advice is given in accordance with BEARS policies and procedures and relevant legislation.

  • To provide Recruitment advice to Managers and staff on the application and interpretation of the BEARS’s Recruitment and Selection policies and procedures and terms and conditions of service and relevant legislation.

  • To be responsible for the preparation, administration and accurate checking of offer letters and Written Statement of Terms and Conditions of Employment, ensuring these are correct in accordance with conditions of service and statutory changes or requirements in line with relevant legislation.

  • To be responsible for ensuring adverts, job descriptions and person specifications are written to BEARS standards.

  • To be responsible for maintaining the database accurately throughout the whole of the recruitment process per vacancy.

  • To be responsible for ensuring that all complex pre-employment checks are complied with on appointment in line with National Standards including:

    • Current registration requirements
    • Qualification details
    • DBS checks
    • Occupational Health screening
    • BEARS Declaration
    • Previous references
    • Identification documents
  • To populate a vacancy tracker using a Microsoft Excel database and monitor the vacancy progress from beginning to end.

  • To be responsible for updating a candidate checklist to monitor progress and inform managers of any developments or actions required.

  • To assist with recruitment and retention initiatives such as supporting the organisation of careers fairs, national recruitment campaigns.

  • To liaise with public, external agencies and staff within the BEARS providing a friendly, professional and supportive service either on the telephone, face to face, email or by letter

  • To ensure that all Recruitment, Disclosure and Barring Service) databases are inputted and kept up to date.

  • To be responsible for data entry onto the DBS Website ensuring all information provided is accurate and correct.

  • To be responsible for checking an individual’s status against the DBS Update Service.

  • To provide advice and support to candidates on the use of the DBS Website and subscription of the DBS Update Service, where applicable.

  • To be responsible in maintaining a high level of confidentiality at all times and awareness of Data Protection in relation to disposal of documentation and appropriate storage of files in line with Information Governance.

  • To provide cover for other members of the recruitment office, in periods of absence, difficulties or busy periods.

  • To work independently and collaboratively with the recruitment team to ensure the highest standard of service is provided.

Safeguarding:

  • Report any concerns regarding the safety or wellbeing of children, adults service users, members of their families etc, in accordance with BEARS Policy.

  • Prevent and respond appropriately to abuse and understand own role in this by undertaking Safeguarding training.

BEARS policies and commitments – to be read in line with the relevant BEARS Policy:

All staff employed by the BEARS must comply with the BEARS’s policies and procedures, undertake appropriate training required for their role and commit to:

  • Ensure they are aware of the Whistleblowing Policy and how they raise concerns;

  • Maintain confidentiality, in line with the BEARS’s Confidentiality Policy and Code of Conduct;

  • Understand their personal responsibilities with regards to data quality for any information which they create, use or process in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and BEARS Data Protection Policy;

  • Comply with the provisions of The BEARS’s Health and Safety Policy and Protocol. Ensuring their own safety and that of colleagues, service users and visitors. Know the action to be taken in the event of a fire and must undertake fire training annually;

  • Receive supervision in line with the BEARS’s Supervision Policy and an annual Appraisal in line with the BEARS’s Appraisal Policy, during which mandatory, role specific and personal development needs should be identified and agreed;

  • Understand their responsibilities under the BEARS’s Equal Opportunities in Employment Policy and ensure that they adhere to the provisions of the policy;
