Job Description

Our in-house Talent Acquisition Team plays a vital role in attracting and recruiting the right people to join Avon and Somerset Police. We work closely with hiring managers across the organisation to deliver inclusive recruitment campaigns, provide expert recruitment advice, and ensure every candidate has a positive experience.

We're looking for two Recruitment Team Leaders (internally known as Talent Acquisition Officers) to join our friendly and supportive team. These opportunities have arisen due to colleagues moving into new roles within the organisation.

This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You'll support hiring managers, lead a small team of Talent Assistants, and help shape recruitment processes that are fair, inclusive and accessible.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Recruitment Team Leader, you'll:

  • Build strong relationships with hiring managers, helping them attract and recruit the right people.
  • Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, from creating engaging job adverts to supporting onboarding.
  • Provide guidance and advice on shortlisting, interviews and recruitment best practice.
  • Lead and support a small team of Talent Assistants responsible for the administrative aspects of the recruitment processes.
  • Represent Avon and Somerset Police at recruitment events, including open days, careers fairs, familiarisation events and candidate briefings and Q&A sessions.
  • Sit on interview panels.
  • Quality assure our recruitment processes.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the wider Talent Acquisition Team to ensure resource is managed effectively.
  • Look for opportunities to continuously improve the recruitment experience for candidates and hiring managers.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
