About The Role
As Recycling & Waste Engagement Supervisor, you will manage a team of Recycling Support Officers. Working closely with the Recycling & Waste Minimisation Officer, you will deliver a programme of community engagement activities aimed at reducing contamination and increasing recycling.
Engaging with residents, community groups, schools, other Council teams and elected members, you will oversee the delivery of initiatives that reduce waste, increase participation in recycling collections, and support the Council's wider environmental priorities.
In this role you will:
- Supervise and monitor the activities and performance of the team of Recycling Support Officers
- Support the Recycling and Waste Minimisation Officer in the development and implementation of waste and recycling education programmes and initiatives
- Work closely with Sandwell’s waste partner on relevant waste communication campaigns to improve service performance and provision
- Attend and participate in educational events including at schools and community groups, occasionally working outside of normal office hours
- Produce reports, reviews and statistics to evaluate the effectiveness of initiatives carried out

Essential Requirements
To be successful in this role you will need:
- A good standard of education to GCSE and A level equivalent, particularly in English and Maths
- Significant supervisory experience
- Experience in waste management, particularly waste minimisation and recycling
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with residents
- Experience of dealing with a frontline service, contractors, management, elected members, residents and external agencies
- Experience of producing a variety of media, recycling campaigns and education materials
The organisation operates to a hybrid working model, currently with 3 days at an office location.
