Red Team Operations Manager
The Role
The Adversary Emulation (AE) team is G-Research’s internal Red Team and a core part of the wider Security Assurance function. The team provides the Board and Executive Management Team with independent insight into the security of our most important information, directly informing security decisions at the highest levels of the business.
AE operations range from a few weeks to more than a full year, with each engagement designed to emulate different internal and external threat actors and test a broad range of systems, processes and assumptions. The variety and complexity of this work creates continuous opportunities to learn, solve challenging problems and develop both technical expertise and strong teamwork.
Reporting into the AE Manager, key responsibilities of this role include:
- Shaping the future direction of the AE programme, developing the team, tooling and operational capabilities
- Leading the delivery of AE operations, ensuring they are well scoped, professionally executed and deliver value to the business
- Providing technical leadership throughout operations, maintaining high standards of tradecraft, operational security and decision-making
- Collaborating with teams across the organisation to maximise operational outcomes and organisational learning
- Managing, coaching and developing team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous improvement and professional conduct

Who are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- Significant experience leading complex offensive security operations, ideally within technology or financial services
- Experience leading and developing specialist technical teams
- Excellent communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills, with ability to operate effectively in complex environments
- Ability to identify novel attack paths while maintaining realistic threat emulation
- Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to lead teams and deliver outcomes in ambiguous situations
- Administrator-level knowledge of Windows and Linux environments
- Strong scripting skills in Powershell, Python or similar, and programming experience in languages such as C/C++, Go or C#
- Advanced understanding of offensive security, operational security and defensive technologies
- Ability to think from both attacker and defender perspectives to improve security outcomes
- Committed to coaching others and role modelling professional behaviours
