Senior Architect

Job Title: Senior Architect

This Senior Architect role focuses on leading a team of Automation Platform consultants while shaping the architecture and direction of key automation initiatives. You will work closely with platform and engineering teams to guide the evolution of an Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) environment, support Red Hat-related projects, and drive the adoption of new technologies, including AI-driven tooling, within a large financial organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 5–6 Automation Platform consultants, providing architectural guidance, mentoring, and technical direction.
  • Work closely with the Automation Platform Team to support the existing AAP environment, offering expert advice on architecture, design, and best practices.
  • Contribute hands-on to code development when needed to accelerate delivery and improve platform capabilities.
  • Define and oversee the infrastructure architecture for the planned migration of AAP onto OpenShift, ensuring a smooth lift-and-shift of the existing platform.
  • Advise on and manage migration strategies, ensuring configuration-as-code principles are maintained and enhanced during the transition.
  • Drive the adoption and effective use of new AAP 2.7 features, including exploring Automation Orchestrator and initial use cases for Event-Driven Automation (EDA).
  • Ensure configuration-as-code remains the core foundation of the deployed platform, promoting robust, repeatable, and auditable automation practices.
  • Lead key initiatives related to Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) in-place upgrades, defining the target architecture and supporting smooth project execution.
  • Support the implementation and adoption of AI tooling in automation workflows, including AI-led migration tools co-developed with Red Hat engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with internal Red Hat teams and other stakeholders to align architectural decisions with engineering efforts and strategic objectives.
  • Provide architectural input to multiple concurrent initiatives, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with enterprise standards.
  • Engage with Senior business stakeholders, communicating complex technical concepts in clear, business-focused language.
  • Participate in ad-hoc on-site meetings in London and/or Manchester (Knutsford) as required.
  • Undergo and successfully complete full background checks appropriate for work within a financial institution.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
