Job Family: Providing – CBG7
Salary: £28,598 – £31,022 per annum, pro rata
Hours:
- 2x Full-time positions
- Monday–Thursday: 08:45–17:20
- Friday: 08:45–16:20
- Location: Working from home and Priory House, Shefford (office attendance twice weekly as required)
- Contract Type: Permanent
- Closing Date: 12th July 2026
- Interview Date: Week commencing 20th July 2026
About the Role
Central Bedfordshire Council is offering two Referral and Advice Officer positions within our Integrated Front Door (IFD/MASH)—a multi-agency team at the Front Door of Children’s Services. This team delivers an innovative, integrated approach to support children, young people, and families by bringing services together to ensure the right support at the right time.
Key Responsibilities of the Role
The IFD operates as a single point of contact for reporting concerns related to child safety and well-being, facilitating real-time collaboration between agencies to:
- Initiate safeguarding referrals.
- Gather information, liaise with parents/carers, children, young people, families, and colleagues.
- Make safeguarding recommendations.
- Ensure families access appropriate universal, early help, or specialist services as needed.
- Work closely with partners such as:
- Education (SEND, Early Years)
- Children’s Centres
- Community Partners
- Police, Health, IDVA/KIDVA, and Drug & Alcohol Services
- Youth services

This role is evolving as the service is widening and strengthening its integrated offer, giving you the opportunity to contribute to continuous improvement and enhanced support pathways for families.
Specific Duties Include
- Conducting daily safeguarding assessments and making informed recommendations.
- Supporting phone duty by taking detailed enquiries, gathering key information, and providing advice/information where applicable.
- Managing high-pressure safeguarding cases, including synthesising information and collaborating with professionals to ensure outcomes.
- Operating within monetary deadlines and efficiency-driven workflows.

- Schools settings
- Children’s social care
- Partner agencies who contribute to safeguarding decisions
