  • Field-based role: Work conducted on-site at customer locations.
  • Rotation across UK regions.

About Thermo King

Thermo King is seeking a Trainee Engineer—an entry-level role—to support the servicing, repair, and maintenance of vehicle-powered transport refrigeration units. You’ll develop key skills while contributing immediately to Trane Technologies’ mission.

Your Responsibilities

You will work closely with a Senior Engineer, gaining hands-on experience while under expert guidance:

  • Servicing and repair of vehicle-powered road transport refrigeration systems.
  • Optimising and maintaining engineer van stock to enhance service delivery for TK UK customers.
  • Conducting daily vehicle safety checks on company vans.
  • Maintaining records via PDA documentation to support central control & invoicing efficiently.
  • Ensuring high standards of customer interface and communication.
  • Demonstrating a professional approach to conduct, personal branding, and equipment presentation.

Key Standards & Requirements:

  • Align with ISO9002 guidelines and company policies in all operations.
  • Complete Certi-Tech certification training as part of your development path.
  • Ensure adherence to Health & Safety procedures at all times.
  • Provide minimal supervision as a trusted team member, adapting to flexible working hours.

Requirements & Qualifications

Successful candidates will bring:

  • Desirable qualifications:
    • GCSEs in Mathematics and English.
    • F-Gas 2079 certification (mandatory).
    • Electrical or mechanical-related industry certificates.

  • Preferred experience:

    • Prior work in a trainee-level engineering role.
    • Knowledge of F-Gas regulations and refrigeration systems.
    • Basic understanding or experience in van operations, automotive systems, or mobile equipment.
  • Electrical focus: Emphasis on theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

  • Full UK driving licence—travelling daily is required.
