Senior Refrigeration Engineer – Highly Skilled Role for a Client-Solving Tech

About the Role
Position: Refrigeration Specialist (London, Central) Industry: Facilities Management | Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Team: Arcus FM – Operational Excellence & MER Systems Flexibility: Remote discussions welcome – we tailor working patterns to suit you.
Arcus FM is looking for a technical expert in refrigeration—someone who combines exceptional diagnostic skills with a passion for cutting-edge refrigeration solutions. You’ll work on reducing fault call volumes, improving efficiency, and aligning strategies with our Air Conditioning and MER PPM teams.
This brand-new, pivotal role is designed for senior engineers who can drive improvements—from risk mitigation to mentoring junior staff, while leveraging your expertise to wave the future of Arcus’ refrigeration delivery system.
Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership: Interrogate sophisticated refrigeration systems using software technology (Green & Cool, SCM, Advansor) to:
- Identify repeat issues and high-risk sites.
- Troubleshoot and design mitigation strategies to minimise downtime.
- Contribute to safety, efficiency, and commercial success goals.

Strategic Alignment:
- Improve synergy between the Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, and MER PPM teams.
- Advise on control systems (CO₂ programming) and energy efficiency.

Autonomy and Accountability:
- Work unsupervised, balancing technical expertise with planning and efficiency objectives.
- Achieve high first-fix rates, implementing temporary solutions when necessary to uphold equipment uptime.

- Knowledge Transmission:
- Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers.
- Present findings in interpretive reports for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Core Requirements
Qualifications & Compliance
- C&G F-gas qualification (2079) – Mandatory
- Full UK driving licence – Must hold and be hazard-conscious
- Industry-recognised qualifications/diverse experience in a relevant field:
- Aological training or apprenticeship in refrigeration.
- CO₂ qualification (or extensive proven experience) – Crucial
- Experience with CO₂ systems and familiarisation (packs, controllers: Green & Cool, SCM, Advansor) – Vital
- CARE Hydrocarbon certificate – (Desirable for wider contract scope)
Technical & Soft Skills
- Specification Excellence: Ability to observe detailed technical data and qrty nervous repetitions that could enable long-term solutions.
- Technological Proficiency:
- Program CO₂ controls using advanced drafting tools.
- Use IT programs for reporting, risk assessment, and scripting specification changes.
- Creative Compliance: A bias for crafting proactive fixes (not just following scripts) while adhering to regulatory compliance.
- Commercial Insight: Apply cost-reduction strategy to prevent repeat failures (critical design input).
- Data-Driven: Analytical skills to transform data into actionable reports, fostering cross-functional savings and opportunities.

- Annual wage: £60,410 (competitive with industry benchmarks)
- VP Task: 40-hour work week (Monday–Friday).
