Job Description
We’re seeking a committed Refuelling Team Leader to lead our permanent night shift operations at our Stoke Gifford Train Maintenance Centre in Bristol.
Salary & Benefits
- £43,696 per annum
- 15% shift allowance
- £3,000 location allowance
- Permanent contract
Accountabilities
This critical leadership role ensures the safe, efficient servicing of Hitachi rolling stock assets during night-time depot operations. As Team Leader, you will oversee the team to deliver:
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake servicing and replenishment of trains arriving from services, including:
- Replenishment of Diesel
- Replenishment of Ad-Blu
- Toilet system servicing
- Fresh water replenishment for toilets and galleys
- Driver windscreens wash
- Sand hoppers replenishment
- Support maintenance staff with:
- Corrective and preventative maintenance
- Complex fault-finding and repairs
- Monitor the Maintenance Management System (SAP) to ensure work is recorded accurately
- Capture and record servicing activities and materials used in the IT system
- Report defects found, notifying senior management and logging them
- Develop SAP maintenance management system (MMS) to improve efficiency
- Manage material usage, including proper labelling and return processes
- Advocate lean principles and best practices across depots
- Ensure anticipated train availability for service (contractual compliance)
- Maintain health and safety compliance, including PPE use and workspace cleanliness
- Liaise with Hitachi and external vendors as required
- Additional support as needed

About You
Essential Requirements
Licences & Competences
- Intermediate IT skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability to interpret electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical schematics/drawings
- Certified Train Driver / Fire Warden / First Aider
Qualifications
- Mechanical & Electrical ONC (or relevant apprenticeship)
- Engineering NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent railway experience)

- Strong focus on safety and professionalism
- Resilient, diplomatic, and supportive under pressure

Desirable (Not Compulsory but Preferred)
- Experience using powered plant tools (e.g., bogie drops, cranes)
- Train driving assessment & licence
- Depot Protection competence
- Certifications in Working at Height, COSHH, Manual Handling, AC/DC Depot Isolation
