The Role
We are searching for a committed Refuelling Team Leader to join our permanent night shift at our Stoke Gifford Train Maintenance Centre in Bristol. This is a critical leadership position responsible for managing and delivering the safe, efficient servicing of Hitachi rolling stock assets in compliance with operational and contractual requirements.
Key Details
- Salary: £43,696 per annum + 15% shift allowance (£3,000) + Location allowance
- Contract type: Permanent
- Shift: Night operations
Responsibilities
Core Accountabilities
- Oversee servicing/replenishment of trains arriving from service, including:
- Diesel replenishment
- Ad-Blu toilet system servicing
- Fresh water replenishment (toilets and galley systems)
- Driver windscreen wash replenishment
- Sand hoppers refill for train operation
- Support maintenance staff with corrective/preventative maintenance, fault diagnostics, and repairs
- It systems proficiency: Capture, record all servicing activities, and monitor SAP Maintenance Management System (MMS)
- Defect reporting: Identify defects, notify leadership, and log in required systems
- Maintenance system improvements: Assist with development of SAP MMS for better process control
- Material management: Ensure controlled use and return processes for tools/materials
- Lean principles enforcement: Uphold best practices across North Pole and out-stabled locations
- Train availability: Work with maintenance/staff to meet contractual train-allocation targets
- Health & Safety compliance: Adhere to all PPE requirements, maintain routes/workspaces, and liaise externally as needed

Requirements
Essential Skills/Licences
✔ Technical qualifications:
- Ongoing NVQ Level 3 (abrasives) or mechanical/electrical served apprenticeship or equivalent railway experience
- Achieved Fire Warden, First Aid, and Train Driving competencies
- Mechanical & electrical contextual knowledge: Ability to read schematics/drawings
✔ IT Literacy:
- Intermediate skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
✔ Certifications (current):
- Electrical safety isolation process (AC/DC)
- Monthly Working at Height, COSHH, Manual Handling
