Regional Business Manager – Abbott Diabetes Care

The Role

We are seeking a Regional Business Manager to lead, develop, and grow a high-performing regional sales team within Abbott Diabetes Care. This is a field-based leadership role with responsibility for:

  • Sales revenue
  • Margins
  • Pricing negotiations
  • Market access
  • NHS account management across the East of England

Reporting to the UK Sales Director, this role involves:

  • Setting and delivering regional strategy aligned to national priorities
  • Anticipating market change
  • Driving growth of the Abbott Diabetes FreeStyle Libre ecosystem

Key Responsibilities

Commercial & Strategic Leadership

  • Own and deliver regional sales revenue, margin, and pricing strategy in line with targets agreed with the UK Sales Director
  • Develop and execute a regional sales strategy aligned to national objectives and evolving NHS priorities
  • Lead regional business planning, forecasting, and budget management
  • Perform data analysis to drive informed decision-making
  • Secure optimal market access through engagement with:
    • Key decision-makers
    • Payors
    • Gatekeepers
    • Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs)
  • Lead end-to-end tender and formulary processes

Sales & Account Management

  • Lead the ADC account management process for key regional accounts
  • Coordinate resources, planning, and activity to:
    • Maximise sales growth
    • Strengthen advocacy
    • Drive brand presence
  • Own personal ownership of strategic accounts to ensure:
    • Sustained market access
    • Continual growth

People Leadership & Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a regional field sales team to:
    • Build capability
    • Ensure accountability
    • Achieve high performance standards
  • Conduct regular field visits to enhance:
    • Selling skills
    • Product knowledge
    • Diabetes expertise
  • Implement performance management practices and encourage continuous learning
  • Recruit, deploy, and redeploy team members as needed to support business objectives

Cross-Functional & Business Leadership

  • Partner with marketing, commercial operations, and brand teams to:
    • Align campaign development and execution
    • Optimise overall growth strategy
  • Contribute to business-critical projects on behalf of Abbott Diabetes Care
  • Ensure compliant and effective management of FOC stock
  • Represent regional sales leadership in wider UK business initiatives

Required Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Degree or Master’s qualification OR
  • Substantial experience in:
    • Medical Devices
    • Pharmaceuticals
    • Healthcare / NHS-aligned environments

Experience & Capability

  • Proven success in sales leadership and regional management roles
  • Strong understanding of:
    • NHS structures
    • Evidence-based initiatives
    • Decision-making processes
  • Highly effective coach, communicator, and presenter
  • Confident negotiator with:
    • Strong commercial & analytical skills
  • Exceptional in:
    • Prioritisation
    • Organisation
    • Time management
