Peripatetic Service Manager

South of England Head offices in: York & Burgess Hill Up to £54,075 per annum DOE | 35 Hours per Week

The Opportunity

Brainkind is seeking an experienced, improvement-driven Peripatetic Service Manager to provide operational leadership and hands-on support across multiple services in the South of England.

This is a dynamic and impactful role where you’ll:

  • Offer operational leadership during periods of transition, leadership absence, or organisational change.
  • Work across specialist settings, collaborating with local teams to improve performance, compliance, and outcomes.
  • Take ownership of service development, quality improvements, and cultural enhancement to ensure the best possible care for the individuals Brainkind supports.

This role is ideal for someone who excels in variability, problem-solving, relationship-building, and measurable impact.


Key Responsibilities

Your role will include:

Operational Leadership & Improvement

  • Provide hands-on operational support across services in the South of England.
  • Lead services during absence of managers, transitional phases, or operational challenges.
  • Identify and implement sustainable improvements to enhance service quality, compliance, and performance.

Team Development & Mentoring

  • Coach and mentor managers and leadership teams to drive operational excellence.
  • Strengthen team culture, support workforce planning, and improve recruitment and retention.

Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure compliance with CQC regulations, safeguarding, and governance standards.
  • Lead on action plans following audits, inspections, incidents, or performance reviews.
  • Monitor and improve quality standards, regulatory outcomes, and service performance.

Collaborative Leadership

  • Work closely with clinical and operational leaders to support service development initiatives.
  • Promote a positive, person-centred culture focused on rehabilitation, recovery, and outcomes.

About You

We’re looking for an experienced operational leader who combines:

  • Strong problem-solving skills with a passion for driving improvement.
  • Quick credibility-building in new environments.
  • The ability to support teams through challenges and deliver meaningful change.

Essential Experience & Qualifications

  • A UK Registered Clinician (NMC or HCPC registered).
  • Proven experience as a:
    • Registered Manager
    • Service Manager
    • Operations Manager
    • Regional Manager or equivalent leadership role.
  • Prior experience in healthcare, social care, rehabilitation, neurological services, or complex care.
  • Strong knowledge of CQC regulations, safeguarding, and governance frameworks.
  • Demonstrated track record of improving service performance, quality outcomes, and team development.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and stakeholder management skills.
