Regional Director for Education – Operations

Description

Lead a group of schools. Back the people who run them. Change what education means for young people who have been let down before.

As Regional Director for Education, you will lead 3 to 4 schools and their headteachers across our portfolio in the Midlands. You are accountable for:

  • The quality of education
  • School performance
  • Commercial health of your region

This role requires a strategic, hands-on approach. You will:

  • Coach and develop headteachers, setting high standards while providing tailored support
  • Oversee quality assurance through regular dip checks, learning walks, and work sampling
  • Monitor financial health, including profit and loss (P&L), budgets, occupancy, staffing, and succession planning
  • Ensure all schools are inspection-ready against Independent School Standards and Ofsted frameworks
  • Maintain robust safeguarding measures

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and line-manage headteachers, holding them accountable for standards and outcomes
  • Provide ongoing coaching and professional development, fostering growth opportunities
  • Oversee commercial performance, including P&L, budget management, and occupancy tracking
  • Lead staffing, recruitment, and succession planning to ensure teams are appropriately staffed
  • Conduct regular quality assurance checks (dip checks, learning walks, and sampling)
  • Ensure Ofsted and safeguarding readiness for all schools

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise

  • Significant experience as a headteacher in special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) provision, with proven success in leading one or more schools
  • Experience leading school inspections as the primary accountable senior leader
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a senior leadership qualification, NPQSL or equivalent
  • Strong commercial acumen, including budgeting and profit and loss (P&L) management
  • Thorough knowledge of Independent School Standards and Ofsted inspection frameworks
  • Midlands-based, with a full UK driving licence and willingness to travel (including regular overnight stays across schools)
  • Must undergo an enhanced DBS check; subject to our safer recruitment processes
