About the Role
Are you a finance professional who thrives at the intersection of operational excellence and digital innovation? Kärcher is looking for a Regional GL Expert to drive our local General Ledger (GL) accounting operations across the Northern Europe Region.
In this role, you will own the accuracy and compliance of our regional financial operations while acting as the primary liaison with our Global Shared Service Center (KGS). This role requires an international mindset, a willingness to travel up to 20% across the region. The role will be reporting directly to the Regional Service Accounting Manager.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables
As our Regional GL Expert, you will not just manage processes—you will own the outcomes. Your core responsibilities are directly tied to the vital deliverables expected in this role:
- You will manage all local GL functions. You will ensure accurate monthly and annual financial closings, minimizing the "Days to Close" while securing the first-time quality of all accounting postings.
- You will oversee the timely computation and preparation of all regional tax returns (VAT, corporate tax) and ensure full compliance with local legislation and Group Accounting Practice. Your goal is to deliver zero non-compliance issues in statutory filings and drive swift, efficient audit resolutions as the main contact for external and internal auditors.
- Serve as the central operational contact and mediator between the local team and the Kärcher Global Shared Service team leads. You will be responsible for the quality of all outsourced accounting processes, establishing smooth escalation workflows, and maintaining a high standard of service delivery.
- Maintain robust accounting controls and financial security across treasury, cash pooling, and regional payroll journals. You proactively identify, highlight, and mitigate financial risks before they impact the business.
- Continuously evaluate workflows to enhance productivity and quality. A key deliverable will be the implementation of business-approved AI tools and advanced digital assets to modernize the team's capabilities and drive operational efficiency.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
