Senior Health & Safety Manager

Salary: £70,000.00 - £85,000.00 Type: Full Time Region: UK – South West Location: Bridgwater, Somerset Job Ref: BBBH25869_1782815547


About the Role

This is an opportunity to join a privately owned, rapidly growing main contractor delivering high-value, mission-critical projects across the UK and Europe. Operating across:

  • Data centres
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Logistics
  • Advanced manufacturing

You'll be part of a business known for:

  • Fast-track delivery
  • Strong in-house capability across civils, build, and MEP
  • A culture built around performance, ownership, and progression

Projects are typically complex, high-pressure environments where:

  • Programmes are aggressive
  • Multiple trades operate concurrently

You'll require a proactive, visible, and influential Health & Safety leader who can drive standards across multiple sites.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee Health & Safety across multiple live projects nationwide (data centres, pharma, logistics).
  • Lead and support site-based H&S teams (Advisors / Managers) across your region.
  • Drive a proactive safety culture from operatives through senior leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • All HSE legislation
    • Company standards
    • Client expectations
  • Review and approve RAMS, permits, and high-risk activity documentation.
  • Conduct site audits, inspections, and incident investigations across multiple projects.
  • Work closely with construction, commercial, and project leadership teams to influence safe delivery.
  • Support project mobilisation and demobilisation from a H&S perspective.
  • Report to senior leadership on:
    • H&S performance
    • Trends
    • Improvements

Requirements

Essential

  • Proven experience in a Senior / Regional H&S role in construction or mission-critical environments.
  • Strong background across large-scale projects such as:
    • Data centres
    • Pharma
    • Industrial
    • Major build
  • Ability to:
    • Manage multiple projects
    • Influence across several site teams simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills enabling you to:
    • Challenge standards
    • Drive improvements at all levels
  • NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ Level 6 (or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of:
    • RAMS
    • High-risk activities
    • Auditing processes
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to:
    • Travel
    • Stay away as required
