Title: Regional H&S Advisor
Location: Leicestershire
We’re looking for a proactive and collaborative HS&E professional to help us create safe, sustainable, and high‑performing environments across our Specialist Services Business Units. If you’re passionate about making a positive impact and influencing safe behaviours, we’d love to hear from you.
What you’ll be doing:
Promote a positive HS&E culture aligned with Galliford Try values and behavioural safety programmes. Support design, engineering and delivery teams in reducing risk through effective planning. Participate in pre‑construction and pre‑start meetings for higher‑risk activities. Contribute to Construction Phase Plans, significant risk assessments and HS&E documentation. Provide specialist advice and guidance to operational and site teams. Carry out regular SSER inspections, audits and follow‑up reviews. Monitor compliance with HS&E legislation, internal standards and client expectations. Lead and support incident investigations, root‑cause analysis and ActiveSHEQ reporting. Assist with ISO 45001 / 14001 internal and external audit processes. Prepare HS&E data, monthly statistics and management reports. Deliver HS&E inductions and training. Escalate concerns where necessary and champion continuous improvement. Work flexibly across Specialist Services (Digital Infrastructure, Asset Intelligence, Oak Specialist Services, Facilities Management) to support both operational and systems‑based needs.
About you:
Experience in a Health, Safety & Environmental role within a relevant industry. NEBOSH Construction or General Certificate. TechIOSH (or equivalent via IIRSM). Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage teams at all levels. Confident in report writing, presenting and facilitating learning. Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable using digital HS&E systems (e.g., ActiveSHEQ). Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
Desirable
GradIOSH or working toward CMIOSH. Level 6 Diploma (NCRQ or NEBOSH). Relevant CSCS card. Knowledge of sector‑specific environments (Water/Highways/Piling) is beneficial but not essential.
