HSEQ Manager (Regional – Gloucester / Banbury)

We're looking for an experienced HSEQ Manager to support salvage and waste management operations across Gloucester and Banbury. This is an excellent opportunity to join a business where safety, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement are at the heart of everything we do.

Working closely with operational teams, you'll provide expert guidance on health, safety, environmental, and quality matters, ensuring our sites operate safely, legally, and efficiently while driving a positive HSEQ culture.


Responsibilities

As our HSEQ Manager, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Supporting and maintaining Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality management systems across multiple operational sites.
  • Developing and reviewing risk assessments, COSHH assessments, and safe systems of work.
  • Ensuring compliance with:
    • UK health & safety legislation
    • Environmental permits
    • Waste management regulations
    • ELV (End-of-Life Vehicle) requirements
  • Supporting and maintaining ISO management systems, including:
    • ISO 9001 (Quality)
    • ISO 14001 (Environmental)
    • ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety)
    • ISO 50001 (Energy Management)
  • Conducting audits, inspections, and monitoring compliance across vehicle recycling and salvage operations.
  • Investigating incidents, near misses, and environmental events, identifying root causes, and driving corrective actions.
  • Supporting fire risk assessments, emergency planning, and pollution prevention measures.
  • Delivering engaging HSEQ training and coaching to operational teams.
  • Working closely with regulators, auditors, contractors, and customers on compliance matters.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, environmental performance, and operational excellence.

Requirements

Essential

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent).
  • WAMITAB Level 4 qualification in Waste & Resource Management.
  • Previous experience within:
    • ELV (End-of-Life Vehicle) processing
    • Authorised Treatment Facilities (ATFs)
    • Waste management
    • Metal recycling, salvage, or another high-risk industrial environment. -Strong knowledge of UK Safety and Environmental legislation.
  • Experience managing:
    • Hazardous materials
    • Depollution processes
    • Pollution prevention
    • Fire risk controls
  • Ability to interpret legislation, permit conditions, and operational requirements into practical site procedures.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable

  • Membership of:
    • IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health)
    • IEMA (Institution of Environmental Management and Assessment)
    • CIWM (Chartered Institution of Wastes Management)
    • Or another relevant professional body.
  • Experience managing compliance at permitted waste sites.
  • Internal or Lead Audit qualification.
  • Experience with:
    • ISO 9001
    • ISO 14001
    • ISO 45001
    • ISO 50001
  • Experience managing contractors and third-party suppliers.
  • Knowledge of risks associated with hybrid and electric vehicles, including:
    • Lithium-ion battery management
    • Emergency response
