About The Role
Role Purpose
We're looking for an experienced and inspiring Regional Manager to lead our Scotland region.
As a Regional Manager at Matalan, you will be responsible for:
- Leading multiple stores across Scotland, implementing the business strategy, and motivating teams to drive profitable sales and industry-leading colleague engagement.
- Combining strategic planning, cross-functional stakeholder management, and hands-on retail operational leadership.
- Ensuring every store delivers an exceptional experience for both customers and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities

Lead, coach, and inspire store management teams across 30 stores to exceed business goals and deliver an excellent omni-channel customer experience.

Foster a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Oversee operations across multiple store locations, managing full P&L responsibility. Ensure high-quality execution of Matalan’s policies, procedures, and standards, while remaining agile to challenges.

Initiate action plans linked to the business strategy to:
- Reduce costs and improve operational efficiency.
- Use data and market best practice to identify and address areas for improvement across the region and influence national policy.

Visit stores regularly to review performance, provide feedback, and address challenges.

Collaborate with store teams and internal peers to:
- Ensure best practices and Matalan’s standards are consistently met and continuously improved.

Build and influence relationships with key stakeholders to:
- Collaborate on important activities.
- Ensure retail needs are considered in broader business strategies.

Deliver the shrink and risk mitigation agenda to maximise profits.

Drive a customer and colleague-centric approach through store teams, improving the shopping experience via highly motivated teams.

Lead colleague engagement by:
- Creating an inclusive, positive work environment that values diversity.
- Encouraging teamwork and idea-sharing to reflect customer and location diversity.

Lead talent development by:
- Focusing on coaching and professional growth.
- Building a strong talent pipeline and internal mobility.
About You
- Proven experience in a regional management role, preferably within the clothing retail sector.
- Strong leadership and highly engaging communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to inspire and lead teams across multiple locations.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Flexibility and responsiveness to changing market challenges.
- Curiosity about change, with previously transformational experience being an advantage.
