As a Regional People Partner, you’ll shape and deliver the people strategy across your region. You’ll serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, ensuring our people plans directly inform business priorities, regional challenges, and long-term goals.
- Strategic Partnership: Collate data and insights from stores to craft interventions that enhance colleague experience and business outcomes
- Consistent Execution: Work with the wider People function to embed strategies deeply within Sainsbury’s
- First-Hand Impact: Spend majority of your time in stores, checking the integrity of initiatives, building relationships, and ensuring high impact delivery
What You’ll Do
In this critical strategic role, you’ll:
- Partnership-Focused Leadership: Collaborate with regional leaders to align people activity with operational and organisational priorities
- End-to-End People Ownership: Lead performance, reward, talent, and succession plans, ensuring each cycle is simple, accessible, and strategy-aligned
- Team Coaching & Development:
- Lead a team of Store People Partners with clear expectations, providing feedback and enabling growth to align reflection with impactful store support (pace and confidant development)
- Cultivate a high-performing People Partnering community
- Transformation & Change Excellence:
- Develop pragmatic plans linking leaders to new ways of working, embedding cultural shifts consistently
- Stay close to operations to refine change through colleague feedback and engage leaders at every stage
- Leader & Talent Development: Coach senior staff, support talent pipelines, and ensure succession plans reflect future needs
- Inclusion & Consistency: Champion consistent people activity across your region while integrating colleague voice in strategy

Who You Are
You bring a strategic, experience-rich approach to people leadership:
- Senior People/HR Business Partner Context: Proven success in fast-paced, complex commercial environments, crafting people strategies that link to long-term business results
- Team Avoidability: Set direction, coach, and build capability for teams of People Partners/HR professionals
- Ensure alignment across multiple stores and stakeholders
- Driving Impact through Insights:
- Connect people activity to organisational strategy fast, with tangible impact
- Diagnose challenges, data-led decision-making, and pace-trusted influence at all levels (commercial aware, credible)
- Navigating Ambiguities: Confident in evolving situations while focusing on long-term strategy and adaptability
Essential Criteria
You’ll need:
- Senior Track Record: Proven record as a People/HR Business Partner, driving high-impact people initiatives across multi-site organisations
- Strategy-to-Execution: Design and implement practical people plans translating strategy across diverse stakeholder groups
- Influencing & Leadership:
- Partner with leadership, challenge constructively, foster cultural shifts rooted in trust
- Capability Cognitive Science: Expertise in talent management, succession planning, and HR development, aligning with growth-partnered transitions
- Identify future workforce needs via traditional and progressive pipelines
- Change Readiness: Head or implement complex organisational change, with clarity-embedded commitment
- Analytical Rigor: Use people metrics, data insight, to:
- Diagnose root causes
- Target opportunities strategically
- Measure intervention efficacy
- Organisational Design: Craft structures, roles, and ways of working aligned with operational needs and long-term capability
- Learning Agility: High curiosity and persistence in dynamic environments, resilient for long-term goals
