About the role
Waterfields (Leigh) Limited is looking for an experienced Regional Refrigeration Engineer to join our team. Based out of our Leigh site roughly 50% of the time, you'll also travel across our 43 stores in the Northwest, keeping our refrigeration and cooling systems running reliably to protect the freshness and safety of our food products.
Key responsibilities
- Install, service, maintain, and repair commercial refrigeration equipment (chillers, freezers, cold rooms, display units) across our Leigh site and Northwest store network
- Diagnose faults and carry out reactive repairs to minimise downtime and stock loss
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules across all sites
- Ensure compliance with F-Gas regulations and health & safety standards
- Keep accurate service records, parts usage, and job reports
- Liaise with store managers and internal teams to schedule work with minimal disruption to trading
- Respond to emergency callouts as required across the region

What we're looking for

- Proven experience as a refrigeration engineer, ideally in a commercial/retail or food environment
- F-Gas Category 1 certification (essential)
- Full UK driving licence (essential — regular travel between sites)
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Comfortable working independently and managing your own schedule across multiple sites
- Good communication skills for liaising with store teams
