Job Introduction
Location: North of England (regional travel across Tarmac and customer sites) Region: Yorkshire and North of England Sector: Construction / Aggregates / Asphalt / Building Materials Reporting to: Regional Commercial Lead

This role will suit an experienced external sales or account management professional from the construction, aggregates, asphalt or wider building materials sector, who is motivated by:
- Managing and strategically growing key customer accounts
- Developing new commercial opportunities within an established territory

- Operating confidently in a fast-paced, operationally complex environment
You’ll be commercially astute, resilient, and organised with the ability to influence customers and internal stakeholders alike.
The Role
As Regional Sales Manager, you will be responsible for delivering sales performance across Asphalt and Aggregates, while promoting Tarmac’s value-added and sustainable solutions.
Working closely with operational, technical and commercial colleagues, you will drive growth within existing accounts, secure new business through trading, and ensure customers receive a consistently high level of service.
This is a field-based role, covering Yorkshire and the north of England, with autonomy to manage your territory while being fully supported by a wider regional and national team.

Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Account Management
- Secure and grow sales across Asphalt and Aggregates in line with volume, margin, and pricing targets
- Proactively identify and develop new business opportunities within your territory
- Build and implement robust account plans to maximise long-term customer value
- Promote value-added and sustainable product solutions aligned to customer needs
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong, trusted relationships with key customers and decision-makers
- Ability to account manage senior stakeholders and business owners
- Lead commercial discussions, pricing negotiations, and ongoing account reviews
- Collaborate with internal operations, logistics, and technical teams to ensure reliable service
Commercial Performance & Forecasting
- Deliver against agreed revenue, volume, and margin objectives
- Produce accurate forecasts and maintain up-to-date pipeline information
- Capture market intelligence, competitor activity, and customer insights
- Develop a network of key partner accounts and general market customers utilising rail and road networks
What You’ll Bring
Essential
- Proven experience in external sales, account management, or business development
- Sector experience within construction, aggregates, asphalt, building materials, or related industries
- Familiarity with the markets Tarmac plans and wins in
- Strong influencing, negotiation, and communication skills
- A resilient, self-motivated, and target-driven approach
- Excellent organisation and time management skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a wider commercial team
- Full UK manual driving licence (no more than 6 penalty points)
Desirable
- Experience working within a large or matrixed organisation
- Exposure to strategic account planning or regional portfolios
- Knowledge of value-added or sustainable construction solutions
- Managing people and/or teams
