Regional School Effectiveness Partner – West Berkshire Council
West Berkshire Council is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Regional School Effectiveness Partner to join our School Improvement team. This is a key strategic role, working directly with schools to raise standards, improve outcomes for pupils, and ensure excellence in teaching and leadership across a defined group of schools. You will provide effective challenge and professional support to headteachers, senior leaders, and governing bodies, supporting them to deliver sustained school improvement aligned with local and national priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver high-quality school improvement support in line with the council’s service offer
- Provide challenge, support, and intervention to schools, tailored to their needs
- Advise governors on headteacher performance management and leadership effectiveness
- Use performance data and intelligence to identify risks and drive improvement strategies
- Maintain robust oversight of school performance, including Ofsted readiness and outcomes
- Support schools with curriculum development, assessment, and self-evaluation
- Collaborate with education partners, maintaining strong professional relationships
- Promote safeguarding, equality, and inclusion across all aspects of the role

About You
We are looking for a candidate with:
- Substantial leadership experience as a system leader, ideally as a Headteacher or existing school improvement adviser
- A strong track record of raising standards and improving outcomes
- Excellent knowledge of current educational priorities, inspection frameworks, and school improvement practice
- A commitment to being evidence-informed and up-to-date with pedagogical approaches
- Highly skilled in data analysis, evaluation, and strategic planning
- The ability to influence, challenge, and support school leaders effectively
- A reputation for building positive, credible relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
- A dedication to continuous improvement, collaboration, and professional integrity
