Local Growth Team — Senior Leadership Role Application Deadline: 9 July 2026 | Location: Remote (Scotland / North West / East / South East)
## About the Role
Step into a Senior Leadership position within the Bank’s new Local Growth Team, responsible for place-based economic activity across one of the UK’s most strategically significant regions.
Act as the Bank’s principal representative, navigating senior political, commercial, and financial landscapes while defining and executing a tailored local strategy to drive growth. This involves:
- Identifying opportunities and catalysing commercial investment
- Strengthening the regional finance ecosystem
- Facilitating partnerships between financiers and high-potential businesses
- Improving access-to-finance pathways, resulting in measurable local economic impact
You will also:
- Contribute to national strategy alignment under the Managing Director’s oversight
- Enable seamless integration between local strategies and the Bank’s wider operations
- Support senior leadership in shaping a cohesive Local Growth framework
Key Responsibilities
Your core focus will be strategic commercial leadership, blending hands-on dealmaking with high-level stakeholder engagement:
Commercial & Financial Strategy
- Develop and implement a locally specific growth strategy, linking financial activity to tangible economic outcomes
- Leverage equity/debt expertise to refine investment propositions, reviewing complex financial products
- Translate data-driven insights into actionable strategies for business clusters and finance providers
- Foster collaborations with senior stakeholders (government, businesses, financial institutions) to amplify regional momentum

Leadership & Delivery
- Build trust and commercial credibility—internally and externally—by driving results aligned with Bank priorities
- Design and execute sophisticated, evidence-based strategies, balancing short- and long-term horizons within complex environments
- Evidence effective strategic decision-making, demonstrably impacting scale, quality, and accessibility of financing
Stakeholder & Cross-Team Collaboration
- Advise the Managing Director on integrating regional strategies into national frameworks
- Oversee and coordinate work across Local Growth Team for cohesive implementation
- Represent the Bank in high-stakes negotiations, ensuring aligned messaging and client trust
** requirements**
- Proven experience as a senior commercial leader with equity and/or debt expertise
- Hand-on dealmaking experience, particularly with complex financial products
- Strong record of engaging senior stakeholders and influencing tangible outcomes
- Evidence of internal leadership, including trust-building, collaboration, and credibility
- Strategic thinkers: Ability to analyse environments, appraise risk/reward, and design executed strategies
- Judgement and adaptability: Managing competing priorities in dynamic contexts
