About Itel Electronics
Itel Electronics is a leading UK manufacturer of cable assemblies, wire harnesses, and electro-mechanical assemblies serving customers in the defence, aerospace, rail, and industrial sectors.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking a motivated and ambitious Junior Field Sales Engineer to join our sales team and support our expansion across Northern England and Scotland.
The Role
Reporting to the Sales Manager, you will be responsible for developing and managing relationships with existing customers while identifying and securing new business opportunities across Northern England and Scotland.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to build a long-term career in technical sales within a growing UK manufacturing business serving the defence, aerospace, rail, and industrial sectors.
The successful candidate will be expected to create, develop, and maintain a healthy pipeline of opportunities, ensuring a consistent flow of new business while supporting the growth and retention of existing customer accounts. Working in a remote, field-based role, you will need to be highly self-motivated, organised, and capable of working autonomously, effectively managing your time, priorities, and travel commitments.
Building and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders will be essential to delivering successful outcomes, enhancing customer satisfaction, and supporting long-term business growth.

Following the successful completion of training and probation, the role will require attendance at the company's head office approximately once per month for team meetings, business updates, training, and ongoing professional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and develop existing customer accounts.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities across defence, aerospace, rail, and industrial markets.
- Build, maintain, and manage a robust sales pipeline to support short, medium, and long-term revenue growth.
- Generate, qualify, and progress sales opportunities through the entire sales cycle.
- Conduct regular customer visits throughout Northern England and Scotland.
- Develop strategic account plans for key prospects and customers.
- Work closely with internal engineering, production, and customer service teams.
- Prepare quotations and support commercial negotiations.
- Deliver technical and commercial presentations to customers.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, sales forecasts, and pipeline reporting.
- Achieve agreed sales, margin, and new business targets.
- Represent the company at exhibitions, trade shows, networking events, and industry conferences.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- A positive, self-motivated attitude with a desire to succeed in technical sales.
- Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with both customers and suppliers.
- Experience collaborating with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to deliver commercial and technical solutions.
- Customer-focused approach with the ability to understand and respond to customer requirements.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of business development principles.
- Ability to manage multiple opportunities and priorities within a sales pipeline.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout Northern England and Scotland.

Desirable
- Experience within cable assembly manufacturing, wire harness manufacture, connectors, interconnect products, or electronic components.
- Knowledge of defence, aerospace, rail, or industrial sectors.
- Previous experience in customer service, internal sales, technical sales, engineering, business development, or account management.
