About The Role
As a Merchandiser here at Matalan, you will work with the team to optimise the profitability of a designated product area, developing a commercial liaison across all interfaces with the Merchandising, Buying and Design functions within the business alongside training and development of your own team.

Duties Will Include
- Preparation of seasonal buying plans through thorough analysis of historical data and understanding of future trends and activities.
- Set and agree core KPIs with the Buyer in terms of sales, stock intake phasing, margin, stock turn, markdown and terminal stock, translating KPIs into a range of framework.
- Working with the Buyer to develop commercial ranges within this framework, establishing initial stock intake plans and stock covers.
- Ensures final ranges selected meets the targets outlined, delivering the range jointly with the Buyer.
- Plan and control the initial product intake phasing.
- Plan and control mailer or event availability.
- Maximise opportunities and minimise risks of performance by monitoring actual performance versus plan, taking remedial action where necessary.
- Maintain effective control of Open to Buy Management, Intake, Despatch, DC & Store stock levels, accurate forecasting of markdown spend and terminal stock forecasts.
- Coaching and development of trainees, assistants and, where applicable, juniors within the team.

About You
- Successfully held Junior Merchandiser or Merchandiser role, within a fast-paced environment.
- Able to demonstrate strong leadership and coaching skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate in the workplace.
- Ability to drive and deliver results in line with company strategy.
- Quick learner able to deal with and manage change.
- Strong commercial acumen.
- Able to travel when the business requires.
