We're building our talent pipeline for the next phase of the A46 Walsgrave Junction upgrade and are keen to hear from experienced Senior Quantity Surveyors and Quantity Surveyors who may be interested in joining Octavius.
While we aren't currently conducting interviews, we expect additional commercial resource requirements to arise as the project progresses through late 2026 and into 2027. By registering your interest now, you'll be among the first candidates considered when recruitment activity resumes.
About the Role
This is a great opportunity to take a lead commercial role on the A46 Walsgrave Junction upgrade, a major highways scheme near Coventry that will transform a key stretch of the Midlands road network. The project will replace the existing junction with a new grade-separated solution, improving capacity, safety, and journey reliability on one of the region's most important routes.
As the project moves into its major delivery phases and continues through to 2028, future team members will have the opportunity to influence how key packages are procured, managed, and delivered.
You'll be working on…
As the commercial team grows, opportunities are likely to support high-value packages across the wider £130m A46 Walsgrave scheme, including earthworks, structures, highways, drainage, and associated infrastructure works.
As a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll take ownership of commercial performance from early project stages through to delivery, managing subcontractors, overseeing cost reporting and forecasting, administering change, and providing clear commercial insight to the wider project team.
You'll work with…
A collaborative project team delivering a flagship National Highways scheme.
You'll be working alongside operational and engineering teams on a daily basis, building strong relationships with supply chain partners and contributing to a culture where commercial thinking is embedded across delivery.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
