Company Description
ACT Building Control is a Registered Building Control Approver providing building control services to projects in England & Wales. All projects are overseen by directly employed Registered Building Inspectors who focus on delivering an expert, timely service. The company operates from offices in London, Gloucester, Leeds, Manchester, Crawley, Poole, and Birmingham, ensuring national coverage and local expertise. RBI’s work closely with clients to help bring projects to completion while maintaining high standards of health and safety for occupants and owners.
Sister companies CHPK Group and CHPK Fire offer complementary services such as project management, CDM, cost consultancy, PD/PDA for Building Regulations, facade design, and fire engineering, enabling an integrated approach to construction projects.
Role Description
This full-time hybrid role is national, with the flexibility to work from any of our offices and from home for part of the week. The Registered Building Inspector will carry out plan checks and site inspections for projects within the Class 2A through F – 3G or H scope, ensuring compliance with relevant building regulations and standards.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Reviewing drawings and specifications
- Issuing technical reports
- Advising clients, designers, and contractors on regulatory requirements and best practices

The role involves:
- Monitoring construction progress
- Identifying and documenting non-compliances
- Working with project teams to resolve issues promptly
The inspector will also:
- Contribute to internal quality assurance
- Maintain accurate records
- Collaborate with colleagues and sister companies to support high-quality outcomes for clients
Qualifications
- Registration as a Building Inspector at Class 2A through F – 3G or H, with up-to-date knowledge of UK Building Regulations and associated guidance.
- Experience in building control, building surveying, or a closely related discipline, preferably within a Registered Building Control Approver environment.
- Strong technical skills in reviewing architectural, structural, and fire safety designs, and assessing compliance on-site.
- Ability to communicate clearly with clients, designers, contractors, and colleagues, both in writing and verbally.
- Proficiency in using digital tools for report writing, record keeping, and remote collaboration.
- Solid organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Relevant professional qualification (e.g., degree or diploma in Building Control, Building Surveying, Construction, or Engineering) and membership of an appropriate professional body is desirable.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and to promoting safe, compliant, and high-quality construction practices.
