Role and Accountabilities:
As a Compass ELC Site Lead, you will work as a Registered Early Childhood Educator alongside some of the industry's most passionate, caring, and dedicated educators.
Some accountabilities associated with the role include:
- Working as part of a team with fellow Early Childhood Educators, Families, School Communities, and Children.
- Ensuring the safety of staff and children.
- Being willing and confident to engage in difficult conversations with educators, families, children, and community partners.
- Having daily administrative and pedagogical time.
- Acting as a link for other program staff, connecting them to our HR, Finance, Pedagogy, and Operations teams.
- Provide nutritious snacks based on a menu created in line with the latest nutritional guidelines.
- Responsible for billing, accounts receivable, enrollments, and managing the child care waitlist.
- Ensuring that the program is meeting the requirements set out by licensing as per the Child Care Early Years Act, and in line with How Does Learning Happen, Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years.
- Welcoming and training new staff into your program, including supply staff
- Planning and implementing play-based experiences following observations of children’s interests.

Location will change within the 11 Peterborough School Age programs based on needs.
This role will work 35 hours per week. 25 of these hours will be in the program from 7 am to 9 am and 3 pm to 6 pm, Monday to Friday. The additional 10 hours per week you will be expected to work in our administration office for administrative tasks, documentation, and pedagogy. This role will have full-time hours during PA days, March break, Summer camp, and Winter break.

Required:
- Is familiar with the Child Care Early Years Act, and licensing standards in a childcare program.
- A minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience working as an Early Childhood Educator or Equivalent
- Possesses the training and documents required by the Ministry of Education, Compass Early Learning and Care, and the Child Care Early Years Act to work in a childcare setting:
- Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check
- Standard First Aid and CPR Level C
- Updated immunization records (Or a signed and notarized refusal of affidavit or medical exemption).
- Registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators, or has a post-secondary degree in a recognized field (i.e. Child and Youth Care, Recreation and Leisure, Bachelor of Education, Social Service Work).
- Has a valid G Driver's License and access to reliable transportation
