Lead a Brand-New Children's Home and Make a Lasting Difference

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and passionate Registered Manager to lead a newly established, high-specification children's residential home in Crook, County Durham.

This is far more than a management position—it's an opportunity to build a service from the ground up, shape an outstanding culture, and positively transform the life of a young person with complex emotional and behavioural needs.

If you're an inspirational leader with a passion for delivering exceptional outcomes for children and young people, we'd love to hear from you.

The Opportunity

As the Registered Manager, you will have full operational responsibility for the home, ensuring the highest standards of care, safeguarding, compliance, and staff development. You’ll create a warm, safe, and therapeutic environment where children can feel secure, valued, and empowered to achieve positive outcomes.

Working alongside a committed and supportive organisation, you’ll play a key role in establishing a home recognised for excellence in children's residential care.

Key Responsibilities

As Registered Manager, you will:

  • Provide effective leadership and day-to-day management of the residential home
  • Recruit, develop, supervise, and inspire a high-performing residential care team
  • Create a safe, stable, and nurturing home environment, centred around the needs of the young person
  • Embed trauma-informed and child-centred practice throughout the service
  • Implement Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), PACE, and therapeutic approaches where appropriate
  • Oversee care planning, risk assessments, safeguarding, and regulatory compliance
  • Ensure the home consistently meets and exceeds Ofsted standards and Children's Homes Regulations
  • Build positive relationships with local authorities, education providers, health professionals, and families
  • Manage complex behaviours with confidence, professionalism, and compassion
  • Drive continuous improvement, quality assurance, and outstanding care outcomes
  • Support the young person with daily routines, appointments, education, and meaningful activities when required
  • Prepare for inspections and maintain excellent standards of governance and documentation

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
