Job Overview
Please note for Welsh students, you must apply via Streamlining where all available jobs can be located.
Are you a compassionate and motivated Mental Health Nurse looking to make a real difference in the lives of adults? We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (Band 5) to join our acute male inpatient service, supporting adults between the ages of 18-70 with acute, complex mental health needs.
You will be part of a supportive, multidisciplinary team that values Compassion, Openness and Respect. Working within the acute inpatient environment, you’ll contribute to structured ward routines, build meaningful therapeutic relationships, and help ensure compassionate, patient centred care. You will be supporting individuals to achieve safe discharge back into the community. This is an excellent opportunity for both newly registered and experienced nurses looking to grow their skills and develop within the acute mental health setting.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

- Administer medication safely in line with Health Board policies.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and contribute to maintaining a clean and safe ward environment.
- Use Restrictive Physical Intervention (RPI) only as a last resort and in accordance with training and policy.
- Work collaboratively with the MDT including contributing to reviews, care planning and safeguarding discussions.
- Support, supervise and guide healthcare support workers, assistant practitioners and students, depending on experience.
- Participate in service development, ward accreditation and effective use of resources.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
