Role: Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMNH) – Older Adult Mental Health Team, New Craigs Hospital
About the Role
An exciting opportunity is available for newly qualified Registered Mental Health Nurses (RMNHs) to join the Older Adult Mental Health Team at New Craigs Hospital. The successful candidate will work within either the older adult acute unit or the dementia care unit, providing compassionate and specialised care to older adults with mental health needs.
This entry-level RMNH position offers invaluable experience within an inpatient Mental Health/Learning Disabilities setting, supporting patients in a caring, compassionate, and skill-based environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, person-centred care to older adults experiencing mental health challenges, including dementia-related conditions.
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team (doctors, psychologists, social workers, and care staff).
- Support patients in navigating acute mental health crises or managing long-term conditions.
- Maintain accurate and legally compliant patient records.
- Contribute to care planning, risk assessments, and discharge planning where applicable.
- Adhere to NHS safety, equality, and diversity policies in all practices.
Requirements
Essential Criteria
- Qualification as a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMNH) (or equivalent).
- A caring and compassionate approach with a passion for working with older adults.
- Experience (or willingness to gain) in an inpatient Mental Health or Learning Disabilities setting.
- Understanding of mental health issues affecting the elderly, including dementia.
- A strong commitment to continuing professional development.
