We are seeking a motivated Ward Nurse to provide high-quality care to patients throughout their hospital journey. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will assess, plan, deliver and evaluate patient care, while supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive patient experience.

Shifts will be made up of predominantly day shifts, with night shifts to be worked on limited occasions and scheduled well in advance.

What you'll be doing

As a Registered Nurse (Ward), you will be responsible for delivering safe, high-quality patient care while working in accordance with the NMC Code of Practice and organisational policies.

You Will

  • Deliver direct patient care and supervise Healthcare Assistants.
  • Assess, monitor and accurately document patient conditions.
  • Escalate concerns appropriately and contribute to effective clinical decision-making.
  • Support and mentor junior colleagues and new starters.
  • Promote patient wellbeing through education and health promotion.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential clinical records.
  • Assist with audits, quality improvement initiatives and clinical governance activities.
  • Take charge of the ward in the absence of senior colleagues when required.

What we'll look for in you

Essential

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Registered Nurse (Level 1) with current NMC registration.
  • Relevant post-registration experience.
  • Recent experience within a surgical environment.
  • Excellent assessment and clinical decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Experience supporting, mentoring or supervising junior staff.
  • Good IT skills and accurate clinical documentation standards.
  • Immediate Life Support (ILS) qualification or willingness to undertake training.

Desirable

  • Experience within Orthopaedic Nursing.
  • ECG, venepuncture and IV medication competencies.
  • Audit or research experience.
  • Teaching or mentorship qualification.
  • Experience working within a multicultural environment.
