The Acute Medical Unit - North
Overview
The Acute Medical Unit - North is a 28-bedded unit within the Emergency Floor at the Leicester Royal Infirmary, specializing in adults with varying healthcare needs.
Role Description
The unit is a fast-paced medical environment where you can gain a wealth of experience in acute medical admissions. We offer excellent opportunities and support for development.
- The length of stay for patients is approximately up to 72 hours.
- You will gain knowledge around the discharge process working closely with our multi-disciplinary team.
- We can offer support to newly qualified nurses (DMU students to apply through clearing).
- Promotion opportunities and development are available through the training and development team.
- Internal rotation posts/shift patterns are available with a range of full-time/part-time hours.
Requirements
To apply for this role, you need to be a fully NMC registered nurse with 12 months of care experience in the UK. The registration number provided will be checked during our recruitment process.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating programmes of evidence-based nursing care for a group of patients.
- Assist in and contribute to the management and organization of a ward/clinical area.
- Actively contribute to setting and maintaining high standards of quality nursing care.
- Actively participate in the education, development, and supervision of other staff members.
- Work collaboratively and cooperatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.
- Act as a clinical and professional role model, mentoring, assessing, and supporting students and learners on placement within the clinical area.
