Shaftesbury Statement

Shaftesbury is a disability charity offering care, education, vocational and rehabilitation services. The charity provides residential care, nursing, and supported living.

Within the education sector, Shaftesbury has:

  • Shaftesbury Victoria School (for students aged 3–19)
  • Shaftesbury Millie College (for students aged 16–25)
  • Shaftesbury Nash College (for students aged 16–25)

All students have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and may have physical and/or intellectual disabilities, including profound and complex learning needs.


About The Role

We are looking for an NMC Registered Nurse (RSCN or RGN) who is:

  • Calm, approachable, and professional
  • Able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • An excellent communicator who can prioritise tasks and stay organised

Key Responsibilities

As part of our team, you will:

  • Maintain exceptional standards of care for students
  • Ensure a safe, engaging, and fulfilling school day experience
  • Focus on meeting individual student needs with dignity and respect
  • Foster an environment where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered
  • Act as part of a team to promote safety, compliance, and excellence
  • Work towards social and academic prosperity for students with special education needs

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the team to formulate and deliver nursing care plans based on research and specialist medical guidance:
    • Conduct assessments
    • Develop care plans
    • Carry out clinical procedures
    • Address nursing needs effectively
  • Assess and train staff to meet student medical needs
  • Provide first aid to students and report care given to parents
  • Stay up-to-date with continuing professional development

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • NMC registered Nurse (RSCN or RGN)
  • Minimum 2 years of paediatric nursing experience
  • Experience working both independently and collaboratively
  • Strong ability to relate positively to children and young people
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and student safety
