Registered Nurse Vacancy – Castle View Ward Royal Lancaster Infirmary University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Foundation Trust Location: Morecambe Bay (including regional hospitals)
About the Role
Joining University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Foundation Trust, we provide acute hospital care to a stunning lakeside community near the Lake District. We’re now recruiting dedicated and enthusiastic Registered Nurses to support our team at Castle View, comprised of two busy medical wards (East and West) specialising in:
- Rehabilitation/therapy management
- Complex discharge planning
- Multidisciplinary team (MDT) collaboration
This role is all about exceeding patient and family expectations while offering elite opportunities for personal and professional growth. Performance appraisals ensure your development is supported.
What You’ll Do
- Lead safe, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing practice across the entire patient pathway, collaborating with multiple healthcare professionals.
- Apply NHS and professional regulatory frameworks (e.g., codes of practice) to your daily work.
- Contribute to clinical governance by participating in practice audits and embedding findings.
- Mentor or assess junior/nursing staff, fostering a supportive environment for team learning.

Requirements
- Valid registered nurse status (NMC) with the experience to work in a medical referral ward on the Cognitive Dysfunction/Dementia pathway.
- Understanding of discharge planning for patients with complex needs.
- Confidence in multidisciplinary teamwork and interprofessional collaboration.
About the Environment
Location & Facilities
Operating across three hospitals and multiple community sites:
- Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI) – Emergency services, CCU, diagnostic and therapeutic offerings.
- Furness General Hospital (FGH, Barrow-in-Furness) – Full NHSC operations including critical care and surgical units.
- Westmorland General Hospital (WGH, Kendal) – General hospital + Urgent Treatment Centre for non-life-threatening conditions. Community work: GP practices, hospitals like Millom Hospital and healthcare centres such as Ulverston Community Health Centre.
