# Registered Nurse (Day & Night Shift) – Berkeley Lodge, Worthing

# About the Role

We are recruiting a Registered Nurse (Day & Night Shift) for our specialist dementia care home, Berkeley Lodge, in Worthing. Reporting directly to the Home Manager, this multi-functional role requires working alternately on day and night shifts—collaborating with our staff of high-calibre nurses to deliver proactive, reactive, and planned clinical care.

# Work Hours & Shift Pattern

Full-time (36 hours/week), alternating between Week 1 and Week 2:

  • Monday (Night): 8:00 PM – 8:00 AM
  • Wednesday (Night): 8:00 PM – 8:00 AM
  • Saturday (Day): 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM

Week 2:

  • Monday (Night): 8:00 PM – 8:00 AM
  • Thursday (Day): 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
  • Friday (Day): 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM

# Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure high-care standards: Safeguard the health, safety, and welfare of all residents.
  • Advocate for patient autonomy: Champion individual choice while supporting dignified, respectful interactions between residents, colleagues, and teams.
  • Lead and collaborate: Assist with coordinating the care team on duty, working cohesively with colleagues to uphold exemplary communication and care delivery.
  • Enhance team morale: Actively promote positive team dynamics, address challenges effectively, and develop teamwork where needed.
  • Engage with families and professionals: Maintain open relationships with resident families, advocates, and next of kin (NOK). Keep them updated on physical and emotional well-being.
  • Maintain accurate records: Ensure meticulous documentation—individually tailored care plans, monitoring of resident needs, events, conversations, and external agency coordination.

# Essential Requirements

  • At least 1 year’s experience in a clinical nursing role.
  • Degree-level or registered nurse qualification.
  • Strong ability to prioritise tasks and achieve optimal outcomes under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
  • Comprehensive clinical experience in:
    • Geriatric care
    • Frailty care
    • End-of-life care
    • Dementia care

# Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly pay: £23.91 to £25.11/hour.
  • Contract: Permanent (36 hours/week).
  • Wages on demand program available.
