NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC)
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.
The Role
As a Band 5 Nurse within the Gynaecology Service, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will be responsible for assessing patient needs, planning and implementing programmes of care, and evaluating outcomes to ensure the best possible patient experience. The role involves supporting patients and their families through sensitive and often complex healthcare journeys, providing evidence-based information and promoting informed decision-making. You will work within professional, legal and ethical frameworks, maintaining the highest standards of clinical practice and patient safety. The post also contributes to education, training and research activities, supporting the development of nursing staff and evidence-based care. In addition, you will assist with service delivery responsibilities including stock and equipment management, documentation and participation in recruitment activities. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated registered nurse committed to compassionate care, continuous learning and professional development

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
