About the Role
The Special Care Nursery (SCN) is a Level 3 neonatal unit supporting families across the ACT and surrounding NSW region. With 12 funded beds, the unit cares for approximately 550 neonatal admissions each year from around 1,700 births at North Canberra Hospital.
SCN provides individualised, family-centred care in a developmentally focused and technologically advanced environment. Working closely with babies and their families, our dedicated team is committed to achieving the best possible outcomes and supporting families every step of the way.

Registered Nurses and Midwives new to neonatal care will undertake a supported 12-month Neonatal Foundation Program, including dedicated study days, supernumerary shifts and structured learning packages. On completion of the program, you will be equipped to care for both premature and term babies and support families through their neonatal journey and transition home.
