Registered Nurse Mom Baby Postpartum

Registered Nurse (RN) – Nights

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients. The role involves leveraging the nursing process through technology, therapeutic interventions, evidence-based practice, and coordinating care with other health team members.

Essential Functions (Nights)

Assess

  • Performs appropriate assessment of physical, social, and psychological status (including cognitive, communicative, and developmental skills).
  • Seeks and evaluates information from interdisciplinary team members, including patients, families, physicians, non-nursing disciplines, and support staff.

Plan

  • Uses assessment data and critical thinking to develop individualized plans of care.
  • Engages patients, families, and teams in plan development.
  • Prepares patients for post-care interventions, including education, referrals, and follow-up arrangements.

Implement

  • Directs interdisciplinary teams via delegation, coordination, and collaboration.
  • Provides or delegates care aligned with established plans, guidelines, and licensure.
  • Prioritizes tasks while effectively managing time, supplies, and resources for patient care delivery.

Evaluate

  • Reviews patient responses to interventions, tracks clinical outcomes, and assesses patient/family satisfaction.
  • Adjusts care plans based on reassessment needs.

Professionalism

  • Advocates for the nursing profession and mentors others.
  • Integrates legal/ethical standards into practice and adheres to regulatory guidelines.
  • Documents care diligently while understanding legal implications of patient care.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • Transfer of compact licenses to the state of practice required within 60 days of hire.
  • RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain a ** Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four years** of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for healthcare providers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution (verification required).
  • BSN preferred since the last job description update (4/27/2025).
    • Employees hired or promoted prior to this date are exempt.

Physical Requirements

  • Visual/Sensory: Constantly interact with patients, providers, and equipment; verify written/spoken info under pressure.
  • Motor: Manipulate complex medical devices with precision (often with finger dexterity).
  • Lifting/Manual Handling: Transfer patients, bend, lift supplies (varying weights), and handle heavy items.
  • Mobility: Walk, transport aid patients, navigate crowded spaces. May require prolonged standing or driving for role-specific duties (may involve vehicular dynamics).

Role Details

  • Location: St. Mary’s Regional Hospital, Grand Junction, Colorado
  • Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36
  • Hourly Rate: $37.45–$57.29 (based on experience)
  • Degree Requirement: BSN required for new hires (as of 4/27/2025).
