Job Description: RN Navigator – Oncology
St. Mary’s Medical Center
Full-Time | 40 hours/week
Pay Range: $44.42 – $65.70/hour (based on experience)
Position Summary
St. Mary’s Medical Center is seeking a compassionate and experienced RN Navigator – Oncology to guide patients through every step of their care journey. In this role, you will serve as a trusted advocate, coordinating care across the continuum while supporting patients and families with education, resources, and personalized care planning. You will partner closely with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and community resources to ensure seamless, high-quality cancer care—helping patients feel informed, supported, and empowered throughout treatment and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide patients and families through the oncology care process, ensuring clarity and coordination at every step
- Assess patient needs and develop individualized care plans that support treatment goals and long-term outcomes
- Coordinate patient education, discharge planning, post-acute care plans, and follow-up services
- Monitor patient progress and ensure alignment with established care plans
- Identify and prevent duplication of services, fragmentation of care, or unnecessary procedures
- Track and analyze patient data (e.g., length of stay, readmissions, outcomes) and contribute to care improvement efforts
- Collaborate with physicians, care teams, national organizations, and community partners to optimize patient support
- Promote Intermountain Health’s mission, vision, and values in all patient interactions
- May float to other departments or participate in on-call coverage as needed
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Current BLS certification (or obtained within 60 days of hire)
- Minimum of 3 years of RN experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Oncology or specialty certification relevant to the role

- Ability to work scheduled shifts on-site with consistent attendance
- Flexibility to work evenings or weekends, as needed
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc)
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
$45.31 - $67.01
