Registered Nurse (Nights)
Nursing Role – Registered Nurse (Adult) in a Specialist Care Home
Full-Time, Flexible Night Shifts (21:00–07:30), £23.47/hour + Weekend & Night Enhancements
About the Role
Position: Qualified Registered Nurse (Adult, Level 1) Hours: Full-time (42 hours per week) Shift Pattern: No set schedule – flexible evening and night shifts (21:00–07:30) Base Pay: £23.47/hour plus weekend and night rate enhancements Reports Linearly To: Clinical Lead
This leadership-focused nursing role encompasses comprehensive clinical care, advocacy, and operational responsibility within a specialist residential care home. You will be a ** Key Worker** for your residents, delivering expert nursing care, coordinating admissions/discharges, managing complex health needs, and supporting end-of-life care while mentoring and covering senior posts when required.
The role involves strong relationships with health professionals, families, and colleagues across the organisation. You will provide clinical leadership, maintain accurate health and safety records, and contribute to service improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care & Support
- Deliver high-quality patient-centred nursing care, including:
- Assessment and monitoring of residents’ needs
- Adminstration of medication management adhering to NMC standards
- Conducting clinical procedures (e.g., wound care, emphasis on holistic well-being)
- Liaise closely with general practitioners, district nurses, and specialists
- Lead in complex care scenarios, including:
- Multi-disciplinary admission and discharge management
- Emergency response for health crises
- Compassionate end-of-life care and bereavement support
Relationships & Advocacy
- Residents’ advocate, ensuring their dignity, autonomy, and well-being are prioritised
- Foster positive relationships with residents, families, friends, and caregivers
- Build trust as a Key Worker for each resident assigned
- Collaborate with internal teams (housekeeping, catering, pastoral care, volunteers) to create a cohesive care environment

Record Management & Compliance
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date clinical records (care plans, audits, incident reports, mandatory training documentation)
- Ensure full compliance with:
- CQC Regulations & Essential Standards
- Infection Control, Medication Safety, GDPR, NMC Standards, and Mental Capacity Act
- Perform clinical audits and risk assessments for service improvement
Leadership & Operational Support
- Interim cover for more senior roles, providing clinical direction and support
- Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and service enhancements
- Represent the organisation in cross-professional forums and training events
Skills & Experience
Essential
✅ NMC Registered Adult Nurse (Level 1) ✅ Extensive experience caring for:
- Older adults
- People with disabilities
- Dementia-inclusive care ✅ Hospital, nursing home, sheltered housing, or specialist social care setting experience ✅ Experience with:
- Admission/discharge processes
- Medical emergency protocols
- Complex healthcare planning for older adults
- Clinical audits & risk assessments
- Accurate health and safety recordkeeping ❌ Both essential and desirable criteria must be considered ✅ In-depth knowledge of:
- Infection control and manual handling
- Health and Safety legislation
- Frailty assessments and the ageing process
- Best practice in medication management, wound care, and mobile inductions
Desirable
✅ Experience managing care teams and providing people management mentorship ✅ Completed, or willing to complete, a Facilitated Learning & Assessment in Practice training ✅ Proven experience with QA systems and care quality standards ✅ Working towards, or completed, further professional qualifications ✅ Knowledge of community or regional care networks
