Registered Nurse - Pre-Operative Assessment
Spire Parkway Hospital | Private
37.5hrs per week | Permanent | Solihull, Birmingham
Spire Parkway Hospital is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Staff Nurse to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis within the Pre-Assessment Unit.
Working alongside an experienced and dynamic multidisciplinary team, you will support a wide range of specialties, gaining valuable exposure across varied clinical pathways. Shift based Monday to Friday 08:00 to 16:00 or 9:00 to 17:00
Spire Parkway Hospital in Solihull, West Midlands offers a comprehensive range of private hospital services. Our hospital is rated Good by the CQC for all parts of the inspection except for Patient Care, which is rated Outstanding. The report states, “Staff treated patients with compassion and kindness, respected their privacy and dignity, took account of their individual needs, and helped them understand their conditions. They provided emotional support to patients, families and carers.”
Our dedicated hospital team are passionate about excellent patient care and we offer a range of specialist treatments to patients across Birmingham, Warwickshire and the West Midlands. This includes diagnostic services, rehabilitation, cutting-edge surgical procedures and excellence in specialist fields like orthopaedics, women’s health and cancer care. We have 51 bedrooms and five operating theatres.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Support in assessing patient’s health and well-being across a complex and changing caseload
- Undertaking electronic pre-operative assessment of patients
- Identify and escalate patients of concern against the hospital's admission criteria to senior nursing staff
- Ability to undertake a full patient health assessment and triage their pre-operative assessment requirements
- Assist in the delivery of care to meet the individuals’ health and wellbeing needs.
- Provide and receive complex, sensitive or contentious information
- Develop own knowledge and skills and that of others
- Promote best practice in health and safety and security
- Assist in maintaining and developing services

Who we're looking for:
- Registered Nurse with no restrictions on practice
- Minimum of 1 year experience as an RGN and Be used to working in teams with minimum supervision
- Experience of working in an acute environment
- Competence across a range of skills, supported by professional and clinical knowledge acquired through state registration
- A surgical background is desirable, but we are happy to consider Nurses with an interest in developing their experience in this field
- Advanced IT skills for electronic pre-operative assessment system
- Phlebotomy, venepuncture and ECG skills desirable (or willing to be trained).
- Outstanding communication skills
